Complex care training saves a life
07-Jul-2011
Marie Williams recently joined our Complex Care team, based in Wolverhampton, as a Complex Care Assistant and completed Ark’s induction for Complex Care on 20 June 2011.
On 4 July, Marie was walking to her local shops in Coventry when she discovered a young boy who had fallen off his bike and sustained a serious head injury after hitting his head on a concrete bollard.
Marie quickly discovered that the child had stopped breathing and, after dialing ‘999’, put her newly acquired skills into effect by carrying out CPR until the ambulance arrived.
“It was a huge shock to find the boy and realise he was not breathing. However, I was able to put my training into effect by doing CPR and then putting him in the recovery position. This was clearly covered by my Ark induction and I am really grateful for receiving this training. It gave me the confidence I needed and helped me to save this young boy’s life” – Marie Williams
