CASE STUDY: Ark provides complex home care for Matthew Leadbitter
22-Dec-2011
34-year old Muscular Dystrophy sufferer Matthew Leadbitter has just (14th November 2011) returned to his Warwickshire home after 12 months to be cared for by his family and a team of specially trained carers provided by Ark Complex Care.
Having undergone surgery at the end of 2010, Matthew had been in hospital and then a residential care home 30 miles from his family, while decisions were made about the provision of care for him. Wolverhampton-based Ark Complex Care has been appointed by Warwickshire Primary Care Trust to assist Matthew and his family.
“We are so pleased that Matthew can now be where he wants to be which is with his family, and he has the independence that only being at home can give him,”
commented Ark Complex Care operations director Sharon Lane.
“Matthew’s condition means that he needs specialist nursing care and we have been working very closely with him, his parents and the Care Trust to ensure we have exactly the right team of nurses, carers and personal assistants in place. Every single member of the care team has been trained specifically to Matthew’s requirements.”
Ark Complex Care employs care assistants nationwide; it recruits and trains teams to manage long term care packages for clients with conditions from across the complex care spectrum.
